The SERVAL is a modern armored vehicle developed by Texelis and Nexter, following a request from the French military in late 2020 for a new multi-role armored platform. Weighing in at fifteen tons, the SERVAL incorporates a range of advanced features designed to enhance its operational versatility and effectiveness in various mission scenarios.
While the SERVAL shares several characteristics with the SCORPION vehicle, it also boasts unique capabilities that cater to the evolving needs of the French military. Its design focuses on mobility, protection, and adaptability, making it suitable for a wide array of applications, from troop transport to reconnaissance and support operations.

The SERVAL armored vehicle is designed to be significantly more versatile than the SCORPION, featuring a larger payload capacity while retaining the same electronic core and SICS (Système d'Information et de Commandement Scorpion). This advanced vehicle is intended to complement the GRIFFON in combat zones, enhancing operational capabilities and providing robust support for various military missions.
In January 2021, the French military placed an initial order for 364 SERVAL vehicles, marking a significant step in modernizing their armored fleet. Currently, Nexter and Texelis are conducting extensive testing to ensure that the SERVAL meets all performance and safety standards before full-scale deployment.
